Red Autumn Sangria

I've been eager to include some fall flavors into blog posts for you guys, so when I recently got a bunch of red wine so I decided to make a sangria to test out this recipe for an event. This is actually the first time I've ever made my own sangria, but I was happy with the results. It tasted like fall in a glass, but not heavy. It was still really bright, with the orange, lemon, seltzer, and apple. This will serve about 6 at the portions I showed above. 

Ingredients: 

  • 750 ml of Cabernet Sauvignon

  • 1 3/4 cup of apple cider

  • 1/2 cup brandy

  • 2 apples chopped into small pieces

  • 1 orange chopped into thin slices 

  • 4 cinnamon sticks

  • Splash of lemon juice

  • 1 can of plain seltzer 

  • 10 oz (aprox.) orange juice to freeze into ice cubes

Directions: 

  1. Place sliced fruit and cinnamon sticks into a pitcher. Then add your wine, apple cider, brandy, and lemon juice. Let this sit in the fridge for at least 4-24 hours. I made it in the morning to drink with dinner, but the more it sits the better it becomes.

  2. If you want to garnish with a brown sugar rim, just wet the rim of the glass and dip into a bowl of brown sugar. Pour sangria into glasses and top off with seltzer and orange juice ice cubes. You could put regular ice cubes, but this way the sangria doesn't get watered down.
