A Budget-Friendly Faux Wrap Dress

The heat here in Western Massachusetts has been insane lately with just a few days of relief sprinkled in. I don’t take the heat very well, so I’ve been living in dresses, athletic shorts, and oversized t-shirts. I’m always on the hunt for budget-friendly dresses that match my style since my taste tends to lean more to the expensive side. However, a classy and feminine dress doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg.

One of the things I always look for in a dress is a cut where the waist is defined. This is what looks the best on my body type and is the style of dress I always feel the best in. Another thing I look for is the length. I don’t like short dresses because I feel uncomfortable in them and I end up yanking them down the entire time I have them on. I also have to be careful that they aren’t too long if they’re a maxi because I’m so short. The last thing I look at is the fabric. Jersey is one of my favorites because it has a bit of stretch so it’s comfortable to move in and I don’t have to go to a bigger size for the arms or bust making the dress too big everywhere else. I also love cotton because it’s comfortable and cool.

For reference, I’m wearing a size small in the dress. Since it’s waist-defining and the fabric is really stretchy and soft I think it’s pretty forgiving if you’re in between sizes. There is a modesty hook-and-eye at the top part of the wrap but I thought on me that it was too high so I actually used a safety pin and it was fine. But if you have a smaller chest I think it’d be fine without anything. However, the best part of this dress is the price. It’s under $40 when it’s not on sale.
