Wheatleigh Hotel

Tucked in the charming Berkshire Hills in Lenox, Massachusetts rests the Wheatleigh Hotel. Built in 1893, and designed by Boston-based architectural firm Peabody and Stearns after a 16th century Florentine palazzo. Materials and over 150 artisans were brought over from Italy in order to execute the intricate carvings seen throughout the property.

Winvian Farm: An Extraordinary Connecticut Getaway

Winvian Farm was originally built as a home for Dr. Seth Bird and his family in the Litchfield Hills of Connecticut in 1775. This quiet getaway is set on 113 acres, and boarders extensive woods and lakes. The house has had many families living within its walls over the years, but in 1948 the Smith family bought the home and renamed it Win-Vian, the combination of the first names of Winthrop and his wife Vivian. To this day, the grand house is still in the Smith family.

Newport Vineyards

I love visiting local vineyards. Not only does it support local business, but I love wine and I always think it tastes better when you form a personal relationship to it. If you can see where the grapes are grown, and hear the story behind the wines you build a deeper connection to it. Last week I visited Newport Vineyards in Middletown, Rhode Island who are currently celebrating their 20th Anniversary.
