Six Depot Roastery & Cafe
This week I'm taking you along to Six Depot Roastery & Cafe in West Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Tucked in a quaint town in the Berkshires, Six Depot finds its home in an old historic train station. Don't think of it as just a great spot to grab a cup of coffee, it's so much more than that. It's a place for the community to come together and a celebration of coffee culture. When you step inside, it'll be clear why people come from all over just to visit the cafe. Co-owners Flavio Lichtenthal and Lisa Landry opened the roastery and cafe 6 years ago. Their love and passion for what they do comes through in every square inch of the place. Brimming with natural light, I can best describe the energy of Six Depot as a breath of fresh air.
Six Depot sources their coffee beans from small organic farms and coops around the world. They spend a couple of months every year traveling directly to the source and making personal relationships with the farmers. They try to offer all different profiles to suit different tastes with 8 single origin coffees and 4 mixes. All their coffee is slow-roasted 5 days a week on a top of the line 25-kilo German Probat roaster that does 50 pounds per batch. If you want to try their coffees and don't live locally, don't fret! They also sell them online here and ship as soon as the coffee is roasted so it's extremely fresh.
More than just a coffee shop, Six Depot also has a gallery and event space that can be used for meetings, discussions, film screenings, theater, live music, and dance. Exhibits in the gallery change, but you can stay up-to-date on what's happening via their website. They also sell a selection of local products including honey, maple syrup, vinegars, cookies, and granola. Additionally, they source gourmet teas and salts from all over the world that you can purchase.
They serve a selection of breakfasts, soups, salads, and paninis available for purchase (with lots of gluten-free options). When the weather is nice you can enjoy your meal and/or coffee with a picturesque view of the mountains. And in the summer they open up a coffee window for grab-and-go coffees and serve ice cream. You can visit Six Depot 7 days a week from 8-4 or find them at local flea markets.
